Medion PC at ALDIs soon

Just wondering whether anyone else had seen the leaflet for the Medion akoya PC which will be sold at ALDIs next week.

The specs not on the website yet but its good value at £499. Intel quad core processor Q6600, 3 gig of RAM, 500 gig hard drive, digital and analogue TV tuner and a 8600GT graphics card 256mb. And a wireless keyboard and mouse with Vista Premium, and the usual bits such as a card reader etc.

Now I realise its a budget make but that is good value for a base unit of this spec. A similar spec PC but with RAID and 2 x 250 gig hard drives and 2 gig of RAM sells at Novatech for £738.99. Quite a saving.

Medion doesn't actually make computers - it's a German based distribution company that rebadges specialist manufactures' products under its own name or the Tevion brand.

As usual, Aldi computers packed to the hilt with features at a knock down price.

I know its a Tevion PC, the reasons it interested me more than their usual offerings is the inclusion of a rather good 3 gig of RAM and this is the first time I can recall that they included a normal graphics card. By this I mean they usually have a different number which leaves you wondering if its better than this one or worse than that one. The 8600GT is a card I know, not their usual 8700 or whatever number where you are left wondering if its any good.

I just thought it was a good price for that spec.

I wasn't inferring that there was anything wrong with a Medion branded computer or other types of computer goods it offers, which normally offer very good value for money, merely that it's not the actual manufacturer.

However, as you are most probably aware, re-badging is very common in the world of computer products (and many others to be fair).

I did realise this Stuartli. I just wanted to let you know that I realised it was rebadged.

Kind of wish I had the money as it would be a nice boost from what I am on now.

Maybe next year.

But it's not a Tevion PC, it's a Medion (re-badged)...:-)
