PC keeps losing connection to router

Since upgrading to windows 8 a few days ago my router keeps dropping my connection every few minutes . 4 other pc's in the house are fine. Mine has a wooden floor for the signal to pass through, my wifes which is fine has two walls between her and the router.

I'm fairly PC savvy but at a loss here.

Have you tried changing the channel number in the router's wireless settings?

Yes tried that and uninstalling the wireless network adapter and reinstalling with the latest drivers.

You are not on your own it seems - have you seen this from Microsoft Community giving certain steps to follow.
