Belkin USB Adapter & Connection Problems?

I've recently gotten a new adapter from Belkin. The previous one would just not work one afternoon. I have managed to install it, and can connect to my home network, but I am still unable to access the internet.
After contacting technical support a few times, and being refused help because they no longer have support for this product, I was instructed to download the software from online. After doing so, I did get onto the internet, but that was only for about a minute and I haven't been able to get on since then.
My network has a very good signal, and seems to be working fine, however I am unsure if the adapter is working properly because there is no utility that I can check its stautus with. The manual says to refer to the wireless utility, but this newer version does not have one.
Any suggestions on what I should do?
