wifi connectivity with tablet

my android tablet detects my wifi network, then almost immediately disconnects from it. I have no idea what is going on as this is not my area of expertise. I just want to plug & play. can someone help me please??

Which tablet? There are many android tablets. Put in the password? Signal strength ok?

I guess from what i have read that is one of those cheap chinese Tablets. MID / Wonder media. I have input the password previously, but it mostly just asks to CONNECT or reject. I get a message saying "Authenticating network", and then it shows wifi disconnected. The signal strenght varies from fair, good , excellent, even though the tablet is sitting about 50 cm from my router (which is a talktalk one) I'm really new to wifi technology.
