unable to connect to the internet unless I pick up the phone

I've changed nothing and tried turning everything off and on again and all connections are tight home. The voice is crackly too and BT want £100 to come out and check. any ideas

BT will only charge if they dont find a fault. Check your line free and see what you get, report any faults.
