Can See Wireless But Cant Connect

Hi, I am trying to connect to my Belkin router wirelessly from my PC running XP Professional. The router appears as an available wireless network, but when I try to connect it fails, although there is no message. The network is indicated as "unavailable connection". I know the wireless card works because I can connect to BT OpenZone. The Belkin router was secured with a password. I have tried taking the security off but that doesn't work. I also have a laptop running Windows 7, which connects just fine. I am flumaxed. Any ideas will be most welcome! Dave

Could your router have "Mac Address Filtering" active, with this set it will only allow connection of previously manually entered Mac Addresses ?

Cheers HC

I wonder if your router is set to "n" wireless only whereas your XP machine may only be able to use "b" or "g". You could go into your router pages to check the configuration for this.

Have you tried removing the wireless connection on your XP machine and re-connecting?

You could also try to connect your XP machine by ethernet first and then try to connect wirelessly.
