SBS Functional Level

Hi folks
I have been asked to look at a SBS to see if I can find out who logged on to a client machine at a certain time. On checking over the system I have noticed that the Functional Level of the DC has not been raised since its installation around 15 months ago.
My question is: if I raise the level now what impact would it have on the running of the server? This is a stand alone DC.
By the way, checking who logged in is not possible as the users only use a machine number to log in and, not their own login details, OH Dear!!!
