Bt home hub and printer issues

I have replced my old router with a BT Home hub3 and so far I cannot get the printer (HP Officejet Pro 8500A) to work. Printer appears in the "my network" area in the hub settings. It also shows up in the control panel. It is connected to the hub via an ethernet cable (to slot 2) Test pages from the control panel and the hub both fail as does notebook. The printer itself will print Configuration pages etc just fine. I have been through the troubleshooter and so far no luck The old set up worked flawlessly (up until this morning) and was easy to set up in minutes. What am I missing? Windows XP desktop.
