The Third Man...

is just one of those films that no matter how many times I've seen it, I end up watching it again when I flick through the TV channels. Does any other film do that for you?

For me it's the combination of the Anton Karas soundtrack and the striking use of black & white cinema technique that do it with The Third Man.

The Third Man is the favourite film of a friend of mine. His Father lived in Vienna and escaped from Austria by the skin of his teeth when the Germans annexed the country. He remembered some of the areas that were filmed.

The Father became a Real English Gentleman, he chose his new name from the London Telephone Directory and cherished his adopted land.

I can always watch Appointment in London mainly because I was there when it was being made. A fairly realistic film written and produced by those who had been there.

Ice Cold in Alex is a gem if only for the shot of the glass of Ice Cold Stella, brings back a few memories although it was my Father who drank the beer and I was limited to lemonade.

I was just having another listen to The Third Man theme and noticed this Gary Cooper classic on the side that I always remain with too. Can you tell which it is from that clue?

That certainly fits the FE's 'it doesn't have to be highbrow' comment...!
