There are hundreds of these young guitarists, and - technically - they are very good. Some of them are, like this girl, absolutely brilliant. Unfortunately that's as far as it goes with most of them - their playing lacks any sense of feeling, and it's easy to spot. They can copy, but they can't innovate.

Occasionally one of them breaks through as a talent, but it's a very rare occurrence.

I agree with the FE on this one. A good few years back we had a young kid up here who was called Thomas Mcrocklin and he was exceptional as a young lad. He went on to play in a band called bad4good formed by Steve Vai, but sort of disappeared from the scene after a while.

The youngsters that play so well when they are really young end up getting caught up with other players developing as they age and become just one of many good guitarists, rather than an exceptional one as a youngster..

I was a guitarist, played in bands from the age of 16, self taught. Hung up all instruments following the 5th demise of bands that I had formed, each due to the death of a member. A long story for another time.

The girl shows absolutely no enthusiasm and is what I would call a ‘Technical player’. Very capable of learning by book or dvd but I doubt could hold her own improvising during a jam.

I was going to say similar to the FE, but didn't as I'm only a basic bassist. There is a lack of pasion despite the technical skill.

I am a bedroom rocker. I have three guitars, a Stratocaster, Telecaster and Takamine acoustic.

I used to have an old guitar [... that's all I could afford ], and used to know all the chords and played mostly rhythm when I got up to play, 'under the lights' as I didn't want to do anythin' fancy like make it [my guitar] 'cry' or 'sing'.

"Are you a Guitarist then FE??"

I'm a guitar player. I played in a band for three years when I was much younger; now I just play to amuse myself. I have been playing guitars for a very long time, I have a few of them around the house, and I pick one up when the mood takes me.

It would be immodest of me to say I'm a good guitar player. I'm an OK player, but I sure as anything know what a good one sounds like.

As for your remark that "God, you lot talk a lot of bullshit on this forum." that's an offensive remark. In your opinion this girl is "amazing", and on one level - that of her technical skill - she is certainly impressive. Of itself that doesn't equate to real talent as a musician however. She's young - maybe the personal flair will come later. In the meantime my opinion stands, and I certainly wouldn't be rude enough to say that you're talking a load of anything.
