Tonight on BBC2 at 9.00pm is a programme about the Sea King helicopter. I wish I had a £ for each trip in one... Also see:

Finally caught up with the programme. Bit sentimental in parts and in some cases any helicopter could have done the job. Shots of Wessex instead of Sea King in parts of the Fastnet rescue. Knew and flew with one of the GM aircrewmen. Quite surprised to see a vintage 1970's shot which had a good likelihood of being a flight I took part in. Didn't know that the footage existed.

Somewhere in the BBC archives is a film of John Noakes of Blue Peter with yours truly getting into a Wessex to do a water parachute jump. The Sea King film was good though; like all documentaries it had some errors and omissions, but I take my hat off to you and others who served in them.
