Snow (well someone had to mention it)

Anyone badly effected?

South Birmingham here, many side roads impassable and main roads now starting to gridlock.

What I find most stupid is that although many schools were closed, quite a few opened and in the last hour announced closures and requested parents to collect their kids. With most local schools on side roads I expect mayhem. It was very clear from warnings yesterday that our area would gradually deteriorate during the day so why allow schools to open, take in kids and then an hour later declare closure?

Fortunately for me,I'd been & collected my latest car from West Midlands on Wednesday and arrived home to see weather warnings appear on the News.I've not seen any snow here in West Cumbria other than on the fell-tops.My only complaint about the weather is I now need to arrange to have the chip in the windscreen fixed as somewhere in the 300+ mile journey home on wednesday, something hit the screen with a loud crack & chipped it(but as I heard several cracks from flying debris on the way home,I have no idea which was the offending crack)

I gathered a big mouthful of snowflakes tonight [in my mouth] on my way home tonight ... it was a 'Satchmo' Snow Blizzard ... 'n' a biting cold blast [of wind] to boot... and was very glad to get back indoors.

It's back again (the white stuff) ... the kilted Scot's football fan's [aka The Tartan Army] would be very wise to wear something more appropriate tonight for the World Cup match against Wales at Hampden Park tonight ...brrrrrr!

None down here on the edge of Dartmoor but Drake's Leat which runs right past our front gate is running fast with about six inches of rain water.

Snow? What snow? Windy, but dry, up here in Nairn. Snow further south and east.

Yet again we here in Edinburgh have missed out on the white stuff, yet again my sledge is denied an outing. (Stamps feet in frustration). I am off for a long sulk.
