Religion is full of all sorts of contradictions like this, because the religion is created by man not some unseen entity. Like all things created by man it is flawed.

McKellen and other homosexuals in the limelight, do not have children of their own; So why should he be pontificating to other people's children in schools?

so long as homosexuals live according to the law This of course is where it all went wrong as it was both church and civil laws that persecuted homosexuals.

I'm not on a throne, and I certainly don't get a kick out of pulling other people to bits.

What I will do however, is continue to point out the huge flaws in other peoples' arguments when I see them. That, after all is what a discussion forum is for. Don't think for a moment that you can come here and post whatever comes into your head without running the risk that someone will challenge what you say.

The persecution of homosexuals is a shameful thing, and no amount of quoting from the bible is going to change that. Any religion that advocates shunning a person because of his or her sexuality isn't worth bothering with.
