Are you having a street party to congratulate the Royal couple?

I saw a newspaper article that described the news as introducing a shaft of light as the year's golden glow was fading.
I'm sure that - like me - you're all too excited to think straight at the moment.

I wonder how many council's are working out the going rate and preparations for street party licences and requirements at this very moment?.

I just can't bear the way the media go into hyper-drive within hours of these announcements.
Oh come on, lets show a bit of tolerance towards the papers at the moment. After all they have faced all sorts of scurrilous accusations recently. An A press that is the envy of the world for it's reporting of the truth no matter how they see it or come by it.

No, let's not....time to fire up the old muckspreader, I think! Fortunately, all the reptiles tend to gather in one place when they're staking out her parents house....

Chronos the 2nd
The press have "faced all sorts of scurrilous accusations recently" because some newspaper employees have acted illegally. We shouldn't show even a scrap of tolerance towards them for that.
My comment wasn't about all that in any case, it was simply an expression of my personal opinion - the sickly way that some papers deal with stories of Royal engagements/marriages/pregnancies/births turns my stomach, that's all.

Why do the press have this fixation on Royal (good news) and Street party?
I have a perfectly good Garden, the Royals are invited to attend my garden party if they wish.

Certain newspapers like to make much of the idea that they are in touch with what the British people think. They pretend that they're running campaigns and splurging over Royal babies because they are public-spirited and have the Union Jack on every desk, but of course they really do it in the hope that it will increase circulation.
It works, so they keep banging on and on. Look at the circulation figures for the Daily Mail.
