Talk about the speaking clock and the satnavs! :) Seriously though, I expect some 'assists' will be of help to some drivers. For myself, then I'm afraid I'd be soon looking for the main cut off button in order to retain my sanity. :)

Are we all sitting comfortably? Then here comes the story

"I would be close to tears from the pain after riding the 8 miles to work on sub-zero mornings"

I can remember the police loading me and my bike into the back of their Landrover on Shap Fell on the old A6 in January 1958 as the road was closed in front of me and behind me. I sat there with my (gloved) hands firmly clamped round the still hot cylinder, until they complained about my moans of pain and the smell of burning leather!

They expressed some surprise when I said I was on my way from Stranraer to Cardiff!

I also suffer from Reynaud's Disease in the form of Vibration White Finger, which I think was probably caused by long distance biking over many years.

One of the reasons I gave up biking, just about five years ago (though I've still hot the bike!) was, in addition to arthritic thumbs, that the VWF had got so bad that even with heated grips in the summer I could not safely go for more that twenty minutes before all the blood capillaries shut down in my hands and they became unresponsive - not very good on a bike!

Like Bingalau says, nothing helps except changing the condition which is causing it.

So you have your Tripcomputer, electric heated seats (with memory)City Safety, traction control, electronic climate control, auto dipping rear view mirrors, rain sensor wipers, electric child locks,Bluetooth,DAB radio, umpteen speakers driven by a large wattage amp, voice activated SATNAV,auto transmission, all the bells and whistles. Then you get a puncture and staring you in the face is a tin of gunge and a compressor,no sign of a jack and some dodgy instructions on how to make yout tyre irrepairable at the local tyre Dude's shop.

Grey Goo, you forgot about the indoor loo. Now there's an addition not to be sneezed at. Some of us only stop because we need to go.

Yes I have heard of people using a bottle so they wouldn't have to stop.

Link up the idea of an indoor loo with the woman who thought she could leave the controls, because she had put her vehicle in cruise control and hey presto! (it can only happen in the good ole US of A. of course, or can it happen here too).

Yes I know my mind goes haywire at times. It's an age thing.

I thought we were all supposed to be saving electricity - oh I forgot it's a car so it just burns more petrol/derv and produces more co2.

I do have something like that.

If I break down I just press the SOS button and a breakdown service is automatically summoned.

I assume there must be some form of sat nav kn board somewhere.
