I am going to Oxford tomorrow. Has anybody been to Oxford? I would like some views about the city of Oxford. I will be spending my 47th Birthday down in Oxford. Any nice pubs, attactions which I could visit. Looking forward to your views. Pity John Thaw has passed away.I wonder if there are any John Thaw look alikes lol .

I live near Oxford and have enjoyed the pubs, etc, over the years but I now avoid it like the plague.
Buses, general traffic and the over commercialisation of the old centre spoil what was a lovely old City. Mind you, if you have to go there the pubs that have been mentioned are good if you can avoid the crowds of tourists.
FE I always thought that you wore the right shade of blue!

I assume Wee Eddy is referring to the actual Cambridge pub called the King Street Run.... and I suppose it depends which decade when you went to the Run. In my day, it was a beer-drinker's delight, wooden tables, simple food, and always full of life. So was the Boat Race... which was a bit heavier.
The Gloucester Arms in Oxford, Friars Entry, used to be similar in the 90's. I did Cambridge in the 80's and 90's, Oxford in the 90's and 2000's and, much like the F.E., the pubs and the girl (only one - met my wife right at the beginning, and she didn't want to watch girls, but did like pubs).
