Have you used The Government Gateway service and is it secure as they make it out to be. What are your thoughts on this serivice? Would you use it? have you used it? are you happy with it?

I assume you mean this? The answer to you question would be know,I have little confidence in any government and IT given it's record over the past few years or so.

Been using it for some years with no problems.
It's just as secure as the telephone, where everything you say is entered on a computer database anyway, or as secure as a letter, which would be scanned into a file and kept on a government server.
Stop being so paranoid!

Used it lots of times and my world has not come to an end yet.

I use the Government Gateway - as do millions of other people - to handle my HMRC online self-assessment tax records. The site is very secure, it uses 128 bit SSL encryption most of the time, but for some particularly sensitive transactions it requires a digital certificate.
I've experienced no problems with the site at all.

As I have said before on this forum " I trust nobody. "
...this advice was given to me by my G.P. (about eight years ago).

"I trust nobody."
What a sad way to look at the world. You obviously trust one person - you took your GP's advice at face value.

FE - that's the only fly-in-the ointment. (I knew you would say that.)
...but this tenet has stood me in good stead, as I do not suffer many disappointments.

" I trust nobody. "
Not even the Bank of England ("I promise to pay the bearer etc etc")?
Never trust a bus driver to get you where your going?
I trust anybody unless or until they give me reason not to.
