Two metal detector enthusiasts have uncovered a hoard of ancient coins that are probably worth around £10 million.

Good luck to them, I'm green with envy.

FE - I ask myself the same question. "Where's my detector?"

I always use a hand-held metal/electric wire detector before I drill any holes in my interior walls...

It seems to work as I have not 'hit upon' anything yet!.

If you get a really smart phone, you can download the metal detector app and have everything conveniently in the one device.

On the World Tonight they said that they spent 10 hours a year 'detecting' for 30 years. Fast forward to 26.30 for the interview, World Tonight.

Perhaps before you get out your metal detector, you might want a browse of this publication: Permission Impossible by David Villanueva (ISBN-13 978-0-9550325-3-0) and published by True Treasure Books.

It contains some good information about Do's and Do not's, and obtaining permission when metal detecting.

Remember, most land and property are regarded as private,or have certain conditions and laws, and that includes council owned parks and areas.
