Why is the green tick not working?

I've tried to tick the football thread a few times and although it worked o.k. a couple of weeks ago, now it seems to have no effect at all. Is there a secret that nobody has told me?

I just posted a test thread, added a response to it, and then applied the green tick. It worked perfectly.

Probably because of some browser setting you may not be aware of.
It does happen, as regular readers will know to the point of boredom!

I couldn't tick the breakfast thread yesterday, but it's just done it OK on the same browser which I was going to switch if it didn't. Maybe breakfast threads can't be ticked in the wrong mealtime slot.
Who says this is boredom?
