Don't feel intimidated by this image, it was most probably taken with a compact as well.

You can buy a rig that mounts a compact camera, then a little lever pushes the shutter button and moves the camera a tiny bit before taking another shot, it's really low tech. The clever bit is the software that stitches the images together into one huge image.

The post was nothing to do with the largest stiched image, but if the largest ticks your box, then the image of Shanghai dwarfs the Budapest one.
