Good point . I know my father (Lancaster Navigator) bombed Leverkeusen and Berlin - not sure about Munich. Did not make it back from the last effort in 1943. You would have thought that Germany would have replaced the clock, though... My mother was a WAAF driver and sometimes drove the bomb trailers so maybe she helped to destroy the clock. Cant ask her now!

I have noticed in several cases of restoration/rebuild in Germany that it is done almost exactly as the original, sometimes using the original plans, but sometimes with a minor or unimportant change.
Perhaps they wish to indicate that it is a restoration.
