We in the South East area are due to be done during April. I have heard that some folk where help was requested have been seen to.

As I posted off my application months ago and had no response I thought an Email enquiry would not be amiss. So I did. and had response that I would be telephoned within a couple of days. This afternoon when I got home Digital Switchover had telephoned. The guy having taken all my details said no application had been received, but no problem we will do it over the phone- so having dug out my flexi friend the deed was done and the installer is coming to fix up the Freesat on March 5th.

So it pays to check

I have also posted this to Helproom and Speakers corner the topic has a relevance in all three places I

I cant wait! I might get a reasonable signal when they convert my local relay. Main station signal is very poor down in the bottom of this valley, and the high pressure weather does not help.

In the South West the digital switchover took place about 2 years ago and i hadn't realised that such large chunks of the country were still on analogue. The switchover in this region was reasonably smooth. There were some initial complaints especially in North Devon who, if I remember correctly, began to pick up Welsh programs only. These problems seem to have been resolved and I haven't heard any mutterings for some time now.

One thing to watch out for is the people who want to sell a new digital aerial. It isn't always needed and I am aware of people who got one who I doubt really needed it.

From the literature it appears a 'Digital' aeriel does not exist TV aerials of the category for a given zone do the job - and it is true some installations my need replacement or realignment

, The digital bit was a simple marketing ploy

My case is an example- when all this malarkey started I was 'advised' a 'digital aeriel was required. so I did asd it was worse than the 40 year old one.already in the loft

So now there are two in the loft- the old one fully connected and the 'digital one all bright and shiny' just hanging there not connected.

As for this post comment others too mention the fact that I posted across three forums It was quite deliberate as a foot note made clear it was appropriate for each.

Yes and Digital Home I did not post because seemingly those that are regular viewers there will have the topic well covered- I should think.

We switched over in the West Midlands about May last year (at least the Wrekin Transmitter bit did) and to be honest it just happened and it took a couple of minutes to retune my freeview channels.

What I find more annoying is the now constant updating which is taking place weekly as more and more porn channels are being added. I know you can ignore it but you never know when other channels are also being added if you don't upgrade.

It is also a double process as you have to retune your digital recorder if you have one so both remain in sync and of course if you have your favourite channels in a special order that is also lost when you update.

Condom - I haven't retuned my Freeview boxes for well over a year. There have been no prompts. Am I missing out?

No I don't think you are missing much. Quest is sometimes good and often not as old as many of the other channels. They have also added several radio stations but I am not a great radio listener. I have no idea why you are not being prompted to update. I'm a great ITV3 watcher as it allows me to catch up on all the programs I missed when I am overseas rather than filling up the recorder with them.

The prompt will reduce greatly after switchover.

We changed in 2010 and I haven't seen a prompt in months.
