Gillingham winger Chris Whelpdale suffers split scrotum
I like the comment from his manager that he is "now a doubt for Friday's game"

sunnystaines "but still had a good smile on reading the post"
A young man receives a very serious, and, no doubt, an extremely painful injury - and your reaction is to 'have a good smile' !
Presumably you would have been in hysterics reading about Fred West's victims.

I hope that we're not going to see an argument breaking out over this. A man was badly injured during a football match. It's happened before, and it will happen again.
What has made this incident apparently so interesting is pretty obvious, but let's try to avoid silly attempts at humour (like the one I deleted). I imagine the man involved saw nothing funny about it.

Calm down folks. Chris is in fine fettle, the lads are predictably extracting every last ounce of mirth out of his 'wounding', not least the fact that he has become famous around the globe (it's 'trending' apparently) for a gash in his 'undercroft'. On of his team-mates has twittered the wound for the world to see. The conversation went something like;
"whelps, can i take a quick pic of your stitches?"
"You wont put it on the web will you?"
"no" click.
All is fine(ish)and Chris is hoping to play tomorrow against Dag & Red.

"(like the one I deleted)."
Thank you.
I cannot be the only one, by no means a prude, who found it offensive

I had an operation a year ago in the same region of the anatomy, and I can empathise with the sportsman in question. The region is 'north by north west' - like the Hitchcock movie.
