Hurricane Katia is predicted to bring us The Great Storm of 2011!

The predictions are that it may exceed The Great Storm of '87.

p.s. What were you expecting when you opened the link...?

Pretty blustery here in Norfolk, but its sunny after a wet start.

The cat looked out of the door first thing, uttered a loud meow and got on the sofa and went to sleep. He had another look out about an hour ago and decided to go back to sleep again. Its not a bad life being a cat!

I have just seen the neighbour's felt stripped from his shed roof and disappear southwards! The top of his 20 foot eucalyptus tree is whirling around like a mechanical egg whisk. I went to see if I could help but there is nothing to be done other than chop the tree down but this would be pretty hazardous at the moment!

First stirrings of a breeze here in Nairn. Lots of tall trees around me, still with their leaves on, and soft, damp ground. Crash helmet at the ready.

My sympathies towards those who are experiencing very high winds. Here in the south west there's a strong warm breeze but it did cause a few of the Admiral's Cup yachts to capsize yesterday.
