No substitute for playing I'm afraid. After many years my fingers are rock hard but one consolation is that you never lose them once toughened. In a week or so, the hard skin reforms.....Get playing:))

After 18 months of playing at least 30 minutes of bass a day, the finger pads of the two yellow pages walking fingers on my right hand are quite hardened now. Play more.

It's not the fingers that I have a problem with, it syncing my brain with 'em. I play all the right notes, but not necessarily in the right order, as Eric Morecambe one said!
