Is it Time to Shut the MET down and start again

Yet again, we find out that the MET have lied regarding a fatal shooting. The 'gansta' that opened fire on them (and appears to be the catalyst for the Tottenham riots) forced them to return fire and kill him - evidenced by the bullet in the police radio. Well, guess what, the bullet fired 'at' the police, that ended up embedded in the radio of a police car, was a police issue bullet fired from a police gun.
We have had men carrying chair legs being shot and of course Brazilian plumbers (that story changed about 6 times as the police were caught out by CCTV and witnesses). We have had the shameful behaviour of the MET with regard to News International and we even have had a senior MET officer admit that as an organisation its institutionalised racist.

"Is it Time to Shut the MET down and start again"
Obviously the answer must be "Yes".
Let's start by sacking every policeman in London with immediate effect (as, in your view they, are all lying bullies) and start a process of interviewing new recruits.
This should only take about a couple of years to achieve (presumably you wouldn't want them to undergo any kind of lengthy training) and meanwhile the City could be 'looked after' by traffic wardens, perhaps?
Well thought through, that man!!

Knee-jerk reactions resolve nothing and only fuel anxiety when a calm and measured response is needed.
Idle speculation in the absence of facts are fuelling the tensions surrounding this incident. The social network sites have become,as evidenced in the Middle East, something of a Pandora's box.
To suggest that the whole of the MET is responsible for the actions of a few or the bad decision making process of their superiors is absurd,in which case the whole of society is responsible for the actions of these "criminal" opportunists.
Though the enquiry may take a while and indeed be rejected by a number of people i would await the outcome before making any rash decisions.
This time we need to be adamant that any recommendations made are fulfilled to the letter rather than fobbed off and left to lie.

Great hyperbole spider, that's my plan. Sack all police. My concern is not with the policemen but the Governance structure which is clearly failing.

Can we have a link to your 'facts' about the shooting in Tottenham?

wiz-king
It has been reported as such in the Times this morning, can't link to it as it is a subscription service. It may well be that this is the case but we shall have to wait and see.
I am going to start a petition on the governments site for Rick'scafe to be the next Met Police Commissioner has he/she clearly has a wide and detailed understanding on how policing should be undertaken in London.
Under Rick'scafe no officer would ever be put in a position fearing for their or others lives and having to make a spilt second decision of how to react. No criminal would arm themselves with a gun, knife or other weapon and threaten the public. No terrorist would wrap explosives around their bodies and detonate them on an underground train.
The Thames would run with wine and gold nuggets would grow on trees in St James Park.

Rick'scafe
Lets see, you are sent out to arrest a man as part of Operation Trident against gang related violence in London.
The man you are arresting has a gun, IPCC have confirmed an illegal firearm was found in the taxi.
The situation is inflamed and it gets to the point that the person who fires first lives - what would you do in that situation?
