From the BBC: BBC News

I would say The News of the world had sunk even lower in my esteem but, that would not be possible.

It is now alleged that the mobile phones of soldiers killed in Iraq and Afghanistan were also hacked into.

This whole sorry story is spiralling out of control. All it takes is for someone to say that maybe, possibly we think that XYZ’s phone was allegedly hacked and it becomes gospel. Unfortunately, with the media we have, if you don’t get in on the story at the start it’s hard to separate fact from fiction.

Wonder how the NOTW is enjoying this :-)

NoW ceases publication on Sunday.

So all those people who were not involved lose their jobs.

Those actually, but not provably, responsible simply move on or up.

I doubt there will be many job losses. There's probably not more than a couple of dozen staff who actually work for the paper, as printing etc is done by News International, and many reporters will be freelance or shared across other titles.

I've just read that Andy Coulson is to be arrested tomorrow, and Rebeckah Brooks was escorted off the premises by security staff 3 minutes after James Murdoch said she is the only person who can lead the company through this turmoil, read into that what you will...

Did anyone watch Question Time last night? Some quite frank revalations being made including from Douglas Alexander that MPs were scared of the NOTW and that Rebekah Wade had made it clear to the parliamentary committee that she had been called to appear before that she would have the NOTW dig up dirt on all of them?

Just who the hell was running the country?
