I have just had a bit of a blow to my morale. I tried to frighten away a cat which was waiting for a chance to catch a bird, at the end of my garden. Distance about 20 yards. I threw a small pebble at it. The missile travelled about three feet from my fingers. Just like a child's first attempt at throwing a stone. The cat just sat there looking bored, so I tried again, only this time a bit harder. What a shock! Not only did the stone travel just a wee bit less but the pain in my arm and hand was excruciating (a bit of an Exaggeration).
That ginger Tom from next door is still sitting there looking bored, I just hope my dickie birds have seen him. I wonder if he will wait until I get my hosepipe out and give him a soaking?

You could always buy an "ipult" for the cat should should make the stone go a little further. I think they are quite cheap.

As you get older you should learn to rest up a bit :0)
Get someone else to throw the pebble at the cat, while you practice raising the right arm (with a glass in it).

I think Fruit Bat /\0/\'s suggestion looks the more sensible so far folks. Many thanks for all the very high tech answers.

You can use an empty Beer bottle (275ml) like a German stick grenade. This has 2 benefits. (1)You can drink the Beer and (2)you get some mechanical advantage when you hurl it at the Moggie.

Thinking about this, I seem to remember our (various)animals detest the sound of smoke or anti-rape alarms. Even the slightest beep indicating low battery makes them scurry away with a startled expression. About a £1.00 at the local £1.00 shop!.
