Scottish election and SNP win

I see that the SNP have won 69 seats and thus gained an overall majority in the Scottish Parliamentary election. Gaining this majority now means he has enough Holyrood votes to hold an independence referendum. Do you think that Alex Salmond, when elected the First Minister of Scotland, will now strive to achieve his long-held wish?
Secondly, what in your opinion would separation mean to the rest of us in Britain? TC.

that it's time to draw to a close a discussion that seems to have descended into a verbal sparring match between two people - both determined to plough on to the bitter end.
I've consulted with the thread's originator, a long-standing forum member for whom I have the utmost respect, and I have decided to bring matters to an end. An interesting discussion, rather spoiled by a bit of personal sniping. Such is life on an internet forum.
