How to include a link in your post

Quite a few people seem to be having difficulties with including a hyperlink in their posts. It's obviously easy enough to type the full address of another web page in the text, but if you want to make a link that others can click on to go to a page on another site, here's how you do it:-

In the text entry box you'll see a number of text formatting icons. One of the icons is a green circle with a small right-facing arrow. When you want to make a link, click the icon.

A dialogue box will appear, in which you can enter a web address. Enter the address of the page you want to link to, making sure that you don't duplicate the 'http' that is already in the box by default.

When you've entered the address, click 'OK' and the link text will appear in your post, together with the highlighted words 'link text' in brackets.

Delete the 'link text' and substitute words of your choice - 'click here' for instance - but don't touch the brackets or anything else in the link text. Don't expect the hyperlink to appear in your text, that happens when you submit your post.

Carry on typing your post, and submit it when you've finished. The hyperlink will appear automatically.

Like most things, it's simple when you get used to it, and it all takes far less time than it takes to read these instructions.

I hope that clears things up for those of you who aren't sure.

"Would like to see dates on posts so you can see if it's an old one dragged up. Also would like a 24 hour clock."

Both of those are on the list of things to amend. We already have dates on posts, I think you meant threads.

Yes, I meant threads. At moment have to open one to see it's date and have been caught out reading old ones before I realised - am more careful now to check. I'm glad those two are on the 'todo' list.

"Both of those are on the list of things to amend."

But why were they changed in the first place?

Had there been complaints about them?

I have nothing against the new site it's just that slow and really got lots of problems like My posts with multiple posts for same thread Most of the time the icons above this box like now are not showing, so I have to just post Address as I copy it to the box, hoping that they know how to use it without a description on how each time to use it. I am willing to go with changes as long as they work, but we seam to be a testing ground for cars Programs and goodness knows what else now days, and then you get the worst offender say they want PC's to be an experience that's MS we are talking about who are pushing out more and more OS's instead of making one work right in the first place. Why? just to keep is bank balance well in the Black and then some. I do not have much time for greedy commercialism, sorry if do not agree but that's my bit sead for today.

Fair enough, but I hope you're not referring to us? As you're well aware, our site is available to you completely free of charge.

FE no I was not, there is enough without PCA jumping on the bandwagon.

One of my chunters was also about software and programs that should never be released on the public the performance they provide. also some ISP's that the Gov are watching. The one I am with as not got good service, though I get a good reliable connection and Download speed, as it's cheap, that's TT, but suspect that if they are punched too much to improve service they will up there monthly fee for the BB/phone packages.

I had problems when I first Started with TalkTalk, but after I got over them I have had good service, "not from India" but from the connection and price

FE I find the [search Forums] are a bit of a hit and miss with the way that they come out. Is it not possible to have the latest posts first then working back to the last posts. At the moment you may have to go back 15 pages for something that may have been posted last week. It was the same on the old forum so not sure if it can be changed or not. I seldom use it but do find it a bit frustrating when I have to. It may just be the heading that I type in which makes it so awkward so not sure if it is the same with everyone. Like others things on the old forum were that much easier to use,Copy and Paste for instance but I am beginning to get the hang of the new system and like you say a couple of months from now we will probably be wondering what all the fuss was about. I think it may just be an age thing with some of us as we find it harder to use new technology. Once we are shown how things work it gets easier for us to learn how to use it.
