Need HELP ASAP w FTP!

I'm supposed to start updating a website and the only info I rec'd was: ftp.webaddress.com , username, password.... I downloaded Filezilla and tried entering in this information and it doesn't connect. I'm new to this and I'm not even sure I'm going about this the correct way.... ANY HELP IS GREATLY APPRECIATED!!! THANK YOU!

Who is your website hosted with? You may have to unlock FTP through your control panel on the host's website.

Thanks. I got it connected now. I've never edited a website through ftp before.....only through Dreamweaver. It's for a used car lot and now I need to edit the descriptions of the cars. I see the html page that's it's on but I can't edit it. When I open the html page it also is giving me an error-DDE execute request failed: a transaction failed. Any ideas????
