Building a website that will contain 100's of photos

Hello all I have a domain name and am looking to create a website where I can allow people to view photographs that I have taken at different events. I'm looking for advice on how best to do this I would have about 200 photos initially and this would increase over time Am not looking for a facebook type of site, want it linked to a domain name Any pointing in the right direction for this would be welcomed I am fairly pc lierate but this is a new area to me Thanks for any help

Many ways to build a website and if you are looking for relatively instant WYSIWYG methods, a number of posts on here already to read. If you prefer to be fully in control of your site and learn core coding skills, will take longer but valuable. You could start at:
Many other resources online, or good books and not too hard. An abundant supply of free templates online to get you started/to modify, including for photography sites.
Whatever you decide, if you want others to find the images via search engines, learn the basics of that before you start, easier than backtracking. Also helps with design decisions, such as allowing for a little core text near to and relevant to each image. These should be worth the viewing time:
