Ok, so here's the situation. We have this web host who we're paying so much per year for hosting. They have been ok so far.
Anyway, 6 weeks ago they take the website down because it was using an old version of Joomla. They didn't tell me they took it down. I found out last week and contacted them. They said they lost their notes as to exactly why they took the site down but said someone probably hacked it and thats why it was taken down.
Anyway, they want to blank my site and tell me to upload a new version of Joomla. I said that it would take ages to get the content right again and add all the extra modules etc.
Any advice?

"They said they lost their notes as to exactly why they took the site down but said someone probably hacked it and thats why it was taken down."
To which my instinctive response would be 'rubbish'. No decent web host would do such a thing without first contacting the site owner.
I'm a bit confused, because first you say "6 weeks ago they take the website down because it was using an old version of Joomla".
Then, later in your post you say "they lost their notes as to exactly why they took the site down but said someone probably hacked it "
Which is it - was the site taken offline because of the Joomla version or because it had been hacked?
