Alternative html, php, xml editor to dreamweaver

hi, I normally use dreamweaver to edit my html, php and xml code and am looking for a preferably free alternative editor.

there's quite a few xml editors out there so pick carefully if you go for a commercial solution, I also have a list of free xml editor as well as some commercial ones. One of the better paid for xml editors include Liquid XML Editor and Philo.
