Background images issues on Mac/Windows Browsers

Hi,
I am having some issues with the background images on a design that I am creating.
I have a background image across the whole of the page and then I have another that acts as the header. For some reason the header section is lighter coloured and as a result doesn't flow in with the rest of the background. This is only the case when I view the website on my Mac (in either Firefox or Safari), yet it is fine on Windows in either Firefox, IE 7 or Safari.
a href="click here">Click here /a> to see the background issues I am faced with.
Thanks in advance.

and I have solved it.
For future reference I had the main background image as a JPG and the header background image as a GIF. I needed to change them to the same format to solve the problem.
Hope this helps someone else!
