Incompatible Document

I must admit to not having read the manual, but just thought I would type a document that I needed to send on to someone. When I emailed it as an attachment the person I sent it to contacted me to find out what format it was in as they couldn't open it. I then copied it to word and then sent it as a word document which they opened ok. No doubt there is a way to change it to be compatible to others that do not have this software on their machines. Are we to find out about this??

it appears to me that if you save it then it will save as a star office document i really think that for the world to be able to read it then you have to save it as either a word .doc file or .rtf these option can be chosen from the save as file format
i have noticed that there is no conversion for Lotus word pro so far

There is an option under
Tools
Options
Load/Save
General
to set the default for documents to Microsoft Office compatible files. I think this would be sensible if you are going to share files and I'm not really sure what you would lose from using Star Offices own file types.
The only Lotus file types I can see are Ami Pro and 123, but presume this was because Star Office's main target is MS Office, not Lotus.
