I have always been puzzled that as the Administrator of my PC and the only user, why when I try to do some things am I barred with a message stating that you need administrator's rights and the only way to get round it is to start the PC in SafeMode. Windows 8 and 8.1 seem to be even worse for this then Windows 7. Is there away round this rubbish? One of my programme is Virtual Acorn and to get it to run after installing a patch is to amend one of the files and save it, but each time I try to save I get the dreaded message.

Have a look at using the 'take ownership' here. Do Not Take Ownership of your C:\ drive.
