Adding an SSD to dell studio laptop

Hi. I have got a Dell studio 1737 laptop but I wish to add an ssd as a primary and use the original hdd as the 2 nd hdd, the idea being ssd as the system disk with the other Hdd as data storage. Fitting is not a problem. Will I need a sata adapter for the new ssd which is a plextor M5M 64 gb, and are there any setup tips . Many thanks
