PC making a weird noise when running games/videos

Hiya,

My PC has been making weird noises whilst playing a handful of games. My computer usually can handle these games no problem, but sometimes it makes a weird grinding sound, at the point of the sound the PC 'lags' a little then returns to normal. This repeats a few times before I get annoyed and turn the games off with varied time frames. Its not coming from the PC itself but is being played through speakers/headphones. Its difficult to describe the sound exactly. Its really frustrating hearing that noise when playing games and the lag is a bit worrying too. It seems to be happening more and more often recently. I really want to find the root of this problem and solve it for good. I really hope someone has any idea what might be the cause. Specs are below.
