An odd one about an hour ago when I switched my computer off, It said updates are being installed do not switch off.It switched off after the update then installed them once it rebooted.

Now the odd thing is that I have got Windows Updates switched off so just wondered how they manage to update computer when the updates are switched off.

I did a check and they are definitely switched off.Just one of those mysteries I suppose.

Well begger me switched the updates on again and checked to see what the last update was for and nothing showing that was downloaded today.

Tried add remove and nothing dated for today either so that leaves the question what can they be updating when nothing shows.

Anyone else get a W/8 update today or was it just me.

lotvic.

That seems reasonable and looks like what may have happened just the small problem that my updates were disabled and nothing shows that any updates were installed.

It makes you wonder what they can update without telling you.Maybe instead of updating they were removing.

Don't suppose we will ever know. I also have Windows Defender switched off so it can't be an update for that just wonder if MSE is switched on somewhere.

Ok found that I had download updates but let me choose whether to download and install them ticked.

But as I had Windows Updates switched of in services I assumed that that would have stopped any updates from being installed.

Looks like I assumed wrong.

Ok will class as resolved as it does not seem to be going anywhere.

Many thanks for your help.
