Is HKCU: Run CTFMON.EXE Essential?

Having a bit of a computer check, and seeing in Start-Up the above reference, I was wondering if its essential to remain in Start-Up.

Checking on the internet, it gives various suggestions for or against removal, including this is to do with Office XP (which I do not have installed).

Any comments very much appreciated.

It's also to do with keyboard languages settings I think. So long as you don't wish to change keyboard settings to talk with foreign friends then it could be disabled.
