AV free for temporary use

Hi, I have restored my laptop for selling and would like a free AV so that I can keep the machine up to date in the waiting period, (It had Norton before I cleaned it and don't want to reinstall that and defeat the object.) My question is there a free AV which doesn't time out for payment after a short time? or is that asking for something unreasonable? Do they all require payment? Thanks for looking

Not my cup of tea but good enough for what you want it to do.

Avast would be my choice, need to register every 12 months but is Free I've been using it for years now with no virus problems.

If OP is selling laptop, prob doesn't want to register Avast with his email address.

MSE might be better choice if don't have to register anything personal.

There are a number of respected free programs available. in this case I would suggest Avast as a free long term download.

You can get most of the free downloads from http//www.majorgeeks.com or http://www.filehippo.com
