windows XP pro reinstall

Hi, I would like to do a clean reinstall of windows xp pro which should mean I get as new factory setup. I've tried a few reinstall before but still have the old windows installed. I thought that a reinstall would overwrite the original windows but now when I boot up I have to choose which version to open, 4 to be exact. Is there any way I can delete these older installs without crashing the whole system. Any help would be much appreciated, Thanks

Please tell us how many internal harddrives you have and how they are partitioned and their drive letters C: F: G: etc. (usually the CD and DVD drives are D: and E:)
