corrupt driver 0n windows XP pro

I was trying to update the drivers on my windows XP pro but must have downloaded a corrupt one which controls the keyboards and mouse with the result that neither of them will work. I know I can roll back the driver if I can get into the system but the problem is not having any pointing device. I can't even log on as this requires me to click on my name on the start screen. I've tried safe mode but the same problem there. Any help would be much appreciated.

Press Tab to move the cursor in to text boxes or highlight items in sequence, including the log in box. Press return when your user name is highlighted.

How to navigate Windows using a keyboard; http://www.computerhope.com/issues/ch000791.htm

If that doesn't work (I dont have an XP machine to verify it) then choose Last Known Good Configuration from the boot menu you access for Safe Mode.

jaywoo - he does say that neither the mouse nor keyboard work.

Mullagh - were the mouse and keyboard through USB ports or the round PS2 type? You could try the alternative type where the driver has not been affected. Worth pointing out that driver updates are a bit pointless unless something is misbehaving - my old XP machine has all its original drivers and works faultlessly.
