Have I killed my USB controller?

Using XP Pro I was trying to connect a 7" Android tablet to my PC the connection was a bit wobbly PC was 'bonging' quite a lot suddenly my USB keyboard & mouse stopped working & no other USB connected items work USB power is still working. I tried the USB mouse from this laptop but no luck. seem like a trip to the repair shop is looming.

Close down the pc by holding in the power button for 10 secs or more.

Switch off the electric plug on wall socket and take plug out. Press in and hold the power button on the pc for about 30 secs to discharge all the static and clear the volatile memory.

Plug back in to wall socket and boot the pc up. Hopefully if no physical damage the pc will now boot up and reinstall the usb controller.
