After an unsuccessful restore I get an error message 0x80070005. This advises me to turn off the Avast free antivirus. Avast has already been immobilized and does not respond to any input. I have tried to uninstall Avast but all I get is this error message C:\Program Files\AVAST Software\Avast\setup\part-setup_abp-ffffffff.vpx I have also tried uninstalling in safe mode with the same result. Where do I go from here?

It is a long time since I used Avast, but as I recall they did have a downloadable un-installer, which if it still exists should clean it out for you

Cheers HC
