Epson Stylus Pro 3880 error message

Episodic1

I'm trying to set up my Epson Stylus Pro 3880. I have loaded the drivers and can see the printer and properties in the print dialogue box but it won't let me print. There is an error message on the printer's own display "Photo Black" and a greyed out symbol for ink position 1, which is actually matt black. Photo black is position 2. The inks are correctly installed in each bay but the nozzle check is only picking up 8 of the 9 inks. The nozzle check also involves a cleaning cycle. An Epson 'status' check shows 9 inks.

Any ideas please?

I'm on a Windows 7 Home Edition 64 bit OS.
