BT Digital Vault - how to save contents to memory stick

I can't believe it's so difficult! My niece has a load of stuff stored on the above, but has been told the service is being suspended at the end of May. She's tried to save the files, but has been told 'not compatible with W8'. She's given me her user name and password, but for the life of me, I can't find any way to save her files to a memory stick from their website.

Any ideas?

Thanks Lotvic - yes, I saw that, but when I click on Autobackup, it just tells me how it works (or is supposed to), but no link to actually set it up!

Don't use the Autobackup thingy, do it manually.

How to retrieve your BT Digital Vault files manually seems to be just a case of clicking on them to download

Yes, looks simple - but when the file is clicked, there is no option to 'save as'. VERY frustrating (she has about 500 files, and there doesn't even seem to be a way to 'select all'. I think I can see wht BT are dumping it!

A few suggestions to try - might work..

Surely you don't want 'save as'? Don't you want 'save' as per a normal file download?

In your browser, how have you got it set to handle downloads? (I have Firefox, Tools, Options, General tab, set to 'Always ask me where to save files')

Also to select All have you tried Ctrl+A, or to select a few at a time in a block, hold down shift and clicking on one of the files and then further down clicking on another.

Does anything useful show in a Rightclick menu?

Thanks Lotvic - yes, tried all those with a total lack of success! Giving in now, and going to bed. Will have a rethink in the morning.

I think I found the problem, could be because your pc is not listed on the left, that is why you don't get the popup box to download/save. I found this thread on bt forum that may give you some pointers.

And this thread that is up to date and seems more relevant to your problem especially downloading all instead of individually.

Thanks Lotvic - it appears I am not alone and that there is no solution at present. I'll keep an eye on those threads in case BT come up with a method. Incredible to just state the facility is closing, with no simple means of recovering everything that's stored there.
