What type of webhost will allow complex search functions

Hi,

I am looking to set up a website which will be based around users entering search criteria which will then then pull through details from a database. There will be a series of different choices of what to search for, e.g. colour, size etc.

The search function would ideally be similar to that of many large websites such as http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/

I would like to know if standard webhosting sites, such as http://www.ipage.com/ipage/index.html etc will allow me to create this or whether I need something more complex?

Any advice welcome as I am a novice when it comes to this.

Thanks

Most hosting companies have options that allow for database driven websites but I don't think any of them offer the service for free.
