i have a newish computer that has win 7 home premium licence on it. unfortunately the hdd has failed and i dont know if i had 32bit or 64bit installed. i can get a dvd to install the software but i dont know which bit version i had. is it possible to tell from the coa licence whether it was 32 or 64bit? the pc came with no disks (i know i should have made recoverys!).

thanks for any help

This thread on overclockers.com confirms that: yes, you can. You will have to phone up for activation as the product key on the sticker will not activate online.

Sorry, meant to put first that you can't tell from the sticker but you can choose to install either 32bit or 64bit with the product key. Don't think you can use an ordinary Retail DVD but you can download a W7 .iso file from Heidoc's links to Digital River (official MS download - scroll down to the English US version) get the W7 Service Pack 1 Media Refresh (SP1 U) then burn to DVD with an image burning program like the free ImgBurn which can handle .iso files.
